New York day 1

Our travel arrangements went well ( apart from a 90 min queue for immigration ) and after a yellow cab ride we arrived at our rented flat in the lower East side at 9 30 pm..
We woke to a wet day and after getting some provisions had some brunch we caught the underground to Central Park. We were glad that Isla knows her way around here as the underground directions look a tad confusing. We went to the Met museum ( amazing ) and then walked down 5 th Av to see the Christmas light on Saks and at the Rockerfeller centre. These were fantastic with the pavements so packed at times you could not move. After that we came " home " and ate locally at a nice French restaurant. The strength of the dollar suggests this wee break will not be cheap - a glass of wine is 8 dollars and my martini 16 dollars. 25 000 steps.
