Looking for the beauty

An Attingham Christmas walk

Chris and I headed to Attingham for a rest from the pre-Christmas prep and to burn a few calories.

We visited the mansion to see the beautiful Christmas trees. They were slightly different to last year and the theme was a forties Christmas so they focused on World War 2 and evacuation. The tree with the origami cranes was inspired by the story of Sadako Sasaki who got leukemia after being exposed to radiation from the atomic bomb that hit Hiroshima in 1945. Whilst in hospital she tried to fold 1000 origami cranes so that her wish of peace and a world without nuclear weapons could be granted as per a Japanese legend.

We then headed outside for a walk around the deer park and the grounds. A lovely day out but we were a bit disappointed with the extended cafe which was dirty and the food wasn't brilliant.
