Border crossing

Next month I'm leading a guided walk for the commons society so I thought I'd better check the route today. On its western edge the walk meanders across the county boundary from east to west Sussex. It was here that I came across a pair of gates - the 'West Sussex Gate' and the 'East Sussex Gate' - both padlocked, around two meters high and topped with barbed wire. The border between Belgium and France is more permeable and less obvious than this.
