Startrails, Bassenthwaite Lake

Drove down to Manchester airport today to collect Mike and Emma (who'd returned from Norway after having spent Christmas there). Roads were a nightmare (especially round the Trafford Centre) and I was delighted to get home.

Clear skies gave me the idea to pop down to the edge of Bassenthwaite to get a startrail. It's a very long time since I'd done one and this time I modified my technique a bit. Instead of shooting 30-second exposures at 1600 ISO, I shot 5-minute exposures - timed by using multi exposures with additive (auto-gain off) blending mode. Then combined a number of exposures in PhotoShop to create the trail.
