Handsome Boy

Back on Dec. 26 I blipped the female Pileated Woodpecker. Well, giving the male equal time, here he is with his fine looking red mustache! Lately the pair are spending more time at the feeders, I guess preparing for the colder temps and their accelerated nest-cavity-creating activities. All of that pounding and chipping away at dead wood has got to demand a high caloric intake! I'm refilling the three feeders every other day with their favorite snack, that's right...BarkButter! Of course the other birds eat it too, including those major consumers...the crows! They come flying in each morning when I call, "Caw Caw Caw"! They certainly know a 'soft touch' when they see one! Peanuts and BarkButter! Good Grief!
