Balancing act

We visited the fort at Sagres today, an excellent spend of €3. The day was brilliantly hot and sunny and the atmosphere relaxed. Many locals were fishing from the cliffs (an inherently unsafe activity) and plenty of tourists were in evidence. We heard Scots voices and Americans, Yorkies, Lankys and Mancs were in the mix with French, Spanish, German and Netherlands accents. Everybody appeared to be having a good time in the sun.

I was very taken by the limestone pavement, though not a patch on Malham, it looked moody and alien. It seemed as though every last inch of its surface had been used for rock balancing. Andy Galsworthy has much to answer for!
