A Meandering Life...

Flower Friday 29 :: FF29 :: Water Lilies..?

At 10am this morning we left our hotel and turned right onto the A561. Then we travelled along the A533, A49, A51, A5, A5183, A1081, A414, A1, A41, A5 (again), A2, A20 and the A21 arriving home at 8pm.

Having driven through a blizzard to get up there I thought I'd take the back roads home. Crossing the M6, M1 and the M25 a couple of times (the latter at a total standstill) we may have had a better journey by doing so.

Along the way we spotted the Shropshire Union Canal where I took these photos (junction with the Middlewich Branch), past a restaurant in St Albans where my mum worked some 50 years ago (before it became an Indian restaurant) and the house where I was born in Hatfield.

We missed all the bad weather and had very few hold-ups.

For the purpose of Flower Friday I offer up the painted doors of the canal boat...

Our two night trip was to Liverpool staying at the Crown Plaza, John Lennon Airport. The hotel was the old Speke Aerodrome terminal with many Art Deco features. The Liverpool city scape taken yesterday was from New Brighton on the Wirral just across the Mersey.
