Another snowy day

The weather in the mountains changes so quickly from day to day. Yesterday's beautiful sunshine gave way to a day of constant snowfall today. Bianca and Kevin went off to the ski school lessons, and Gavin decided to attempt a few runs but soon gave up due to the very poor visibility. Everyone else stayed at home realising that the skiing would not be good today.

I walked in to the village to meet a friend for coffee, and as we are on top of a hill it was a bit of a slippery walk down the hill. It was snowing so heavily I actually used an umbrella to keep the snow off my face. We had a lovely coffee (and a second one) all cosy and warm inside the cafe. I then walked home and decided to make tomato soup for lunch - not enough for the boys of course, they made a huge lunch of pasta pomodoro and chicken, but Gavin and I enjoyed it.

This is the view from our terrace after the low cloud had lifted a little - in the extras you can see that same view first thing this morning when it was all misty, and another of the river in the village.

Tomorrow the forecast is for sunshine. We have been given a voucher as a gift from a friend to spend a day skiing off piste with a specialised guide. I won't be going as I am not a good enough skier, but all the boys and Gavin are. Tomorrow is also New Years Eve (or Silvester as it is known here -this is because the holiday also marks the feast of St. Sylvester, who passed away on New Year’s Eve in the year 335. Sylvester is known for having cured leprosy and for baptizing Constantine.) It will also be my Blip anniversary of 5 years - where have the years gone to?
