London Array

I chose this photo for my New Years Eve blip because l feel it represents what must be our ecological goal for years to come.
This is part of the London Array, a site of 175 wind turbines set 12 miles off the Kent coast in the Thames estuary capable of providing all the power that is needed for the county of Kent in South East England. It is the largest off shore wind farm in the world and the largest in Europe by megawatt capacity.
This last year alternative energy sources managed to provide a third of the UK's energy needs - a large part of that being wind powered. There were several days when all coal power stations were off line in the UK and we were powered only by alternative sources.The way to go.
