New Year's Eve

The last day of 2017. Already there are pictures on line of celebrations in Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong. In London sadly it is a damp night.
Long gone are the days when we celebrated the turn of the year.. We used to have a party inviting families who had children of similar ages to ours. We played games and they still remember what fun we had. Other memories include  parties at the Golf Club in Kenya where New Year was celebrated on the hour, every hour, as every nationality celebrated in their own time!  It was very lively by the time it was our turn. We had to wait until 2 am to celebrate New Year GMT.!  On return to England we celebrated at the local golf club with a big party. Sadly this doesn't happen any more, it doesn't get the support it used to. Since then, many times we have given a dinner party here at home.
We have nothing planned for tonight, so here we are, wondering whether to stay up to see the fireworks on tv or record them and watch in the morning! How life changes!
