HAPPY NEW YEAR

New Years has traditionally been our biggest holiday. In years past, it was nothing for 75 to 100 people to pass through this house on NYE. Fireworks were shot over the pond from a pontoon ( MANY STORIES about midnight swims due to fireworks mishaps :—)) Thankfully no serious injuries, only funny stories. We even had youngest son’s wedding reception party on NYE 5 years ago. That, complete with an ELVIS impersonator, is still talked about.
My dad died on NYE 2009. However that is a bittersweet memory. Bitter bc of the pain, sweet because of the intense love we had for him and especially for the intense love and care of Father God as He carried us through the shadow of death.
That’s all past. NYs represents a new beginning. Nothing stays the same. There is excitement and anticipation in that. As we have been protected and carried in years past, as we have had the love and support of precious friends and family, so it shall be In the future. It’s an opportunity to redo past mistakes and make more memories.
As we sit in this warm, quiet little house and wait for the neighbors to come watch a movie, I feel very humbled and very grateful.
HAPPY NEW YEAR. And many NYs blessings, Blip friends!
