Ocean and marshes

I love the diversity of scenery in Maine.

We spent the day at Reid park today, on Georgetown Island. There are several miles of sandy beaches, which contrasts nicely with the otherwise rocky shores of Maine. Just beyond the dunes, there is a large, peaceful, marsh (pictured here), whose waters flow into the ocean's inlet. That creates an interesting phenom as the tide comes in and meets the water flowing out. Sort of a mini 'bay of Fundi.'

On the way there, we stopped at a local 'scarecrow festival.' We made friends with the local police and firefighters, scored homemade clam chowder and walked away with, no one, but two, homemade pies. Life is good! :)
