Entangled

Should old acquaintance be forgot?

Overnight I receive texts from Crystal. Just after midnight they tell us our flight will be at 13:00 tomorrow and then at 1:40 that our bus will leave for the airport at 8:35

We get the 8:35 bus at just after 9 and due to all manner of delays don’t get to the airport until 12:15. No matter, there’s still a queue to check in. The 13:00 Flight leaves sometime after 14:00, and we’re all offered a complimentary drink. Claire pushes the envelope and finishes the holiday with champagne.

We park at the far end of Edinburgh airport and are bussed to the terminal. The bags get the Sunday treatment and come out in dribs and drabs over the next 40 minutes.

We go Angus’ flat to collect ‘Stuff’ only to find that he has the wrong keys. So, home, where Owen has arrived and lit the fire. We start cooking. The Bannermans arrive. The night follows its usual course downhill. Stewart arrives for the bells, but otherwise we are undisturbed.

The final scene of the night is a drunk Stuart trying to disentangle himself from Megan by stepping through a hoop of string, while Megan correctly tells him that it won’t work. When I do untie them he insists that “we were almost there.”
