Happy New Year!

We joined over 2 million others on the beach in Copacabana to bring in the new year and enjoy the famous, spectacular firework display.  A fantastic 17 mins of oohs and aahs, accompanied by the popping of corks and 'happy new years' all around!  

We enjoyed briocarioca's and HH's party and generosity in the lead up to midnight and it was a happy gathering this year from Argentina, Uruguay,  Brasil, Scotland, England, Germany and Italy and all wearing white as is the tradition in Brasil. We wandered down to the beach at 11.30 carrying our new year toasts and plastic glasses, miraculously managing to stick together.
