Makapu'u 2018, First sunrise 7:09AM

Maybe a few minutes later to crest the cloud bank above Molokai.  Breeze was lite, beautiful sparse clouds catching the colour, sea was calm in the channel.

Extras:  (Kudos to the team as they have given back my 2 extras slots from 2017 and I start 2018 with 100 remaining!   Thank you!)   Which I have promptly shaved down to 98 remaining, by posting these:

1.  Amaryllis, day2.  The horizontal stalk began straightening last nite and by this morning, it has done a graceful ballet arm extended curve above the leaf sprouts.   The bud is beginning to crack open   . . .

2.  A necklace of cars  . . .  and view up Makapu'u to the windward side.  Altho we were about 40 minutes early, we had to park just outside the golf course entrance, farthest away so far.

Happy New Year's Day 2018!

Update (per our local paper) - About 500 people walked up (seemed like more than that to me).  This is the 7th year of this First Day Hike up Makapu'u.  First Day Hikes are held across the US.
