Two in a Canoe

Took Paul and Mafeli to Amieira Marina, so they could go out on the Lake. We stayed in the car and slept, am trying hard to let my ribs knit, so thought canoeing might be a bit risky.

As an example of what I love about the Alentejo... We stopped in a café in the small village of Alqueva for a toastie - no toasties, he said, but I've got bean stew - large bowl of beans, pork, chorizo, carrots, cabbage, (which he offered to refill) made by his Dad. Basket of good bread and olives while we waited, and a bottle of decent red. Coffees and liqueurs. Came to 30-some euros, can't remember exactly. And quiet friendliness.
