The teddy in the window

I first walked past this old garage near manesty woods about 12 years ago, and saw this poor teddy, which had clearly been lost by a child, popped into a plastic bag and taped to the window of the garage. I'm sure the idea was for the child who had lost it might spot it, contact the owners and reclaim their lost toy.

The teddy in the window has never been reclaimed, and it sits there to this day. But it is hardly unloved - it is sent postcards and letters from all over the world, which the house owners have stuck in the windows alongside the teddy. This year the cards have been so numerous that they have extended beyond the window over the garage walls.

Finally, to cap it all, I walked past one of the art galleries in Keswick the other day, and saw - in the window - a painting of the teddy, for sale (with all proceeds going to charity)

Amazing how famous an old lost teddy can become.
