Downtown

I imagine this was a row of private houses in the not so far distant past. It is maybe surprising how many of these buildings survived the boom years of Aberdeen's expansion. Most are now shops or cafes on the ground floor, though some may still have apartments at the upper levels, or are empty.

As the city looks forward to a rather more sedate future they probably safe from demolition and redevelopment as long as they are properly cared for. These particular dwellings would have been very handy for the next door school just out of picture to the right. The school building survives also, though it is now a pub.

A rather bleak day cloudy and rain most of the morning though the rain eased off later.
