Journey forward

Coleskop.....

....is the most well known of the many "koppies" ("little mountains") surrounding the town of Colesberg - named after Sir Lowry Cole, Governor of the Cape of Good Hope 1828 - 1833.

Coleskop can be seen from a distance of over 40kms. Early travellers called it "Towerberg" ("Magic Mountain") because it never seemed to get any closer when approached from a distance.

Am surprised that I got such a good shot of it from the car moving at about 100kph on our return home from our coastal holiday.
