Between fen and mountains

Throw away

Clocks are the oldest domestic machine and I often repair examples that are over 200 years old and still working. The vacuum cleaner burnt out and being a Miele, a model that was bought for its sturdy construction, I decided I could replace the motor. Frustration followed as all the screws were designed not to be removed without specialist tools but nevertheless I was able to dismantle it. However I then found that the spare part can only be bought for considerably more than the price of a decent new vacuum cleaner. I went out and bought a new one in the sale but still regret not being able to repair the old one economically.
