The cleaner

Keeping hospitals clean is very important work.  I spotted this man cleaning as I walked around the outside of the hospital, waiting for G while he had some tests.  Somehow, though, I never feel that hospitals are quite as clean as they should be, especially since the cleaning services were privatized. In 2003, a privatized cleaner in a BC hospital was earning 26 per cent less than the national average union worker.  I'm not sure what the difference in wages is today, but I'm sure the privatized workers are still earning less.  Shameful.
