Barcaldine's Last Stand

I've stopped several times to photograph this group of beeches just beyond the Sealife Centre at Barcaldine. Initially I would shoot past the SLC and realise that there was nowhere else to park and have to turn and come back. They look often good with the late afternoon sun lighting them up, and today they had the extra benefit of some snow on the background hills.

They've been left standing when the surrounding forest has been felled and they look better than many trees in that situation. Let's hope that now they're without protection they won't blow down!
