Scheidelberger Woog

When the Glan river is flooded I always like to go and take a look at this area in the Landstuhler Bruch called "Scheidelberger Woog" and try to imagine that it used to look a little like today before 1770 - before it was drained the last time.
The Woog* was first mentioned 1455. People earned their living by fishing - fishermann in our part of the country - hard to believe nowadays.

Wikipedia:
A woog is the local name for a body of still water in parts of southwest Germany. A woog may be of natural origin or manmade.

Sometimes I wish it was still there and would not only give me an idea of former times after storms and rain. Would make cyling in the Bruch much more interesting.

Yes, I got out of the house today, but only to do a little grocery shopping. Blipped from the car. The plan is to go back to work on Monday, but not 100 % sure about that yet. We'll see (and hear).
