Christmas rose

Traditionally January 6 is the day when the festival of the Three Kings is celebrated throughout many countries.  According to a legend a young shepherd girl had seen the shepherds take presents to the new born Jesus and twelve days later as she watched the three kings take their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh to the baby Jesus she wondered what she could give him.  Realizing that she had nothing she decided to search for some flowers but finding none she started to cry.   As her tears fell to the ground some pure white flowers sprung up and so she as able to pick some as her gift.   Now the Christmas roses flower around the time of Jesus’ birth in tribute.

Most of the apples on the neighbour’s tree have now been eaten but I’m amazed that this is still hanging on by a thin sliver of skin. (extra)
