Bean Rock

Met some friends for lunch at the Pah Homestead cafe. This is one of the sculptures in the gardens and is a visual pun. It is of Bean Rock lighthouse, the full size version of which sits in the middle of the Waitemata harbour. The light was first lit in 1871 and was built to guard shipping from the rocky reef upon which it sits. It is NZ's oldest surviving timber lighthouse and is also the only wave-washed one in the country.
