Beloved Community

A day of stomach-churning emotions, one way or another, but also of deep gratitude for the community here in Mourão, who not only love and care for Mike and I, but for our family as well.

The gentleman with his arm around our son is known as "Fakir", whose day job before retiring was as a glass, knife, snake and fire swallower, hence his nickname. He was a bit of a lost soul before the Padre (far left) drew him into the community; he now proudly gets dressed up and goes to Eucharist each week, and then comes to Sr Zé's (far right), where he always stays behind to help D Nazaré clear up.
