Tired/Retired!

Thanks for all the well wishes for a speedy recovery from the the lurgy..........
A good night was had with a little help from the amber nectar from North of the Boarder.  As it was a bright cold start and Mrs A S was grabbing back some more Christmas time we drove to Church Bridge ( which I have Blipped  before) on the canal and walked back home along the canal bank.
It was very pleasant and good not to have to do a there and back walk! The above is a pair of paddle gates on the long defunct Sandhill Lock. It has no gates and the walls are all braced to prevent collapse.
There is a big celebration coming up later in the year to mark the 200 years since the canal was opened, and the reopening of a further 2 miles of navigable water! Watch this space!
Bit of a lazy sofa day followed and a chicken roast to recharge the energy banks. Touch wood only a couple of sneezes today so will be repeating last nights medicinal tots!
I have tagged the above in the Derelict Challenge run by 60plus  to whom I say thank you for the opportunity.
