MM207 : CLASSIC Metamorphosis
Classic? A difficult one. OK found my Royal Stewart Tartan scarf. But this is Mono Monday. Lateral thinking and solution found.
At the age of 16’ish I was a Saturday girl at The Scotch House & Burberry - both part of GUS ‘Great Universal Stores’ at the time. (and later for the one and only quirky Westaway & Westaway opposite the British Museum)
The Scotch House. Remember the vast store in Knightsbridge?. A treasure trove of quality leading Scottish brand CLASSIC tartans, knitwear, shawls and scarves. Vicuna, cashmere, alpaca, mohair, camelhair, merino wool, shetlands etc.
‘Must go’ destinations for discerning Americans, Italians, French. The European kids came to snap up shrunken Shetlands in the latest marl colours to go with their mini kilts, their parents for le Twinset. I was devastated when they all closed. Those were the good times.
