Stepping out

Back at the farm game park this afternoon I was suitably entertained by the two African Jacarna that are living here. They splashed around in the very hot sun, chasing each other up and down the open areas and through the reeds - disturbing the crake and coucals that were resting therein.
The paradise flycatchers and the woodland kingfishers were bathing in the water too. Such a delight to sit and watch them.
The pond needs clearing of old reeds - a job that will be done in early autumn after all the water bird chicks have flown.
I will miss this when back home in the freezer of the UK!
