It's getting on for eight years now since Baba Stelios died at the age of 94. He was our original local rural sculptor and probably had quite an influence upon Nikos Amazonias.

For the most part Nikos specialises in artisan sheds but both he and Stelios have decorated roadside boundaries; Nikos' often with a nautical theme, Stelios with unusually-shaped sticks and stones, often painted to help the viewer see what he could.

I'm not sure how exactly Kiki's family is related to Stelios' but certainly it is, and today I found these at Kiki's border, so very après- Stelios.

Another rather less savoury find was a dead hooded crow hanging by its neck in a tree. Perhaps the intention is to warn off other crows, in which case I would expect to see it in some kind of field and not in the little patch of ground where the dog is chained to his kennel. Perhaps it is to train the dog to go after crows, though I doubt he will be off his chain much. Some things here are just very different and it's probably best not to ask.
