Moss

Normally, this would be a photo of a cake, it being CarbBoy's birthday (again?  so soon?) but all my photos have him in and, even though he has reached his teens, house rules still do not judge him old enough to decide to be on the internet.  So here's some moss on a step*.

CarbBoy managed to sleep in this morning - which is a surprisingly rare occurence given that he has recently discovered that I don't monitor what time his light goes off providing he's reading.  But he is a fast mover even from a sleeping start, and he made it to the bus with aplomb.

Meanwhile, I had had a rubbish night so headed back to bed (why is it always easier to sleep in the morning than the night?)  Later, off to Castres to buy the boy's presents - I know that sounds a bit last minute, it has been planned for a while though.  Lunch, some telephone persuasion with our local Mayor, then birthday gôuter (pancakes and cake cake) and present opening.  He seemed delighted with everything (and spent more time than I imagined possible playing with a BB-8 toy - a well-judged gift from a lurker!)

Later, a little trip to the pond (for me - it was super-sunny and warm today) to check on the wildlife: no frogs, but all the fish were out sunning themselves so I took pity and gave them some food since there are probably limited supplies of mosquito larvae just now.

Meanwhile, I've pulled a muscle in my abdomen, so now all movement is carried out at the pace of an arthritic 100 year old, and coughing is a carefully judged activity.  Despite that, it does feel that the corner has been turned.  Poor TallGirl seems to have lost all hope of ever being well again.

*For any upcoming visitors sensitive, foot-wise, to the threat of slippery steps, the moss will be long gone by then...
