Lincoln Cathedral

This is the view tonight from my hotel window. It is in Lincoln, overlooking the cathedral, at a venue chosen by Skoda for the launch drive of the new Karoq.
Lincoln Cathedral was built in the 11th century. Work on it started in 1088, and for 238 years it was the tallest building in the world. It was the first building to hold that title after the Great Pyramid of Giza.
Today it is the third largest cathedral in Britain, after St Paul’s in London and York Minister.
Eminent Victorian writer John Ruskin said of this beautiful buildingl: "I have always held... that the cathedral of Lincoln is out and out the most precious piece of architecture in the British Isles and roughly speaking worth any two other cathedrals we have.
