Cliffords Tower

I took my boss into Cliffords Tower in York today to look at the crazy idea of suspending umbrellas from the top to stop people getting wet!!!

The tower lost its roof in 1684 during the civil war - the soldiers using the cannons manage to set the wooden roof on fire and it has never been replaced.

Cliffords Tower is sometimes called the Castle of York and it is imfamous for the massacare of over 150 jews (men, woman and children) during a siege in 1190 when they committed suicide by jumping from the roof rather than being captured.

It is run by English Heritage and is £4 to get in -however the views over the city are amazing, I love looking around and trying to name all the buildings/churches etc. Didn't do too well today with the churches, but knew all the chocolate factories!
