My beloved Oslo - the swans

The swans in the courtyard at the City Hall looked great covered in snow.

The sculpture and fontain is made by the Norwegian sculptor and painter Dyre Vaa (1903 -1980) and inspired by the Norwegian author Hans E. Knicks depiction of swans representing the soul of Oslo.  The two swans got included in our city seal for a short time.

Today we use the oldest seal that depicts our patron saint St.Hallvard seated on a throne with lion decorations and with the city's motto inscribed: Unanimiter et constanter (United and constant).

Happy Friday!
