Dipper patch

This is a favourite patch for the dippers as there is usually a little open water. The touch little birds hop into the water and drag out bits of weed onto the ice, which they can pick through for nutritious bugs. The Dippers have to keep at this all day so they have enough energy to keep warm in the extreme winter cold.
