Life in a Northern Town

Ramsden Reservoir

Such a grey and dismal day - we really felt like slobbing around the house all afternoon eating chocolate fingers but the dog was full of beans so Sarah and I dragged ourselves out while the boys went to football (currently losing 4 - 1 -  oh dear...). We went to Ramsden Reservoir below Holme Moss and set off for a walk with no clear plan.

It was unexpectedly pretty, and also basically deserted. I figured we probably needed to walk back across the dam but finding the path down to it wasn't easy - we were about to give up and grumpily walk all the way back the way we came when we found it. There's no chance of falling off the dam (see extras). 'elf and safety you know. The main Blip shows the spillway from Riding Wood reservoir, which for some reason I found beautiful - it really shouldn't be. It does look better large.

Back to Holmfirth for ice-cream and now we are awaiting the depressed arrival of the boys before we demolish roast chicken for dinner - fish for the veggie of course (although she might have been spotted eating a bacon sarnie earlier...).
