Skin Art

After yesterday's monochromatic day, it was time for something high in color. And what better place to find just that than at DC's annual Tattoo Expo? :)

I'm fascinated by that entire "culture" of body art and body artists. Lots of characters to be found there, for sure. A lot of money, time, pain (and yes, art) involved in that. It seems a bit of an addiction, with people coming back -- over and over again -- to get more work done, some spending dozens of hours over the weekend getting tattooed. Many of the folks involved had large parts of their bodies already covered (at least the parts I could see...).

Everyone agrees that the closer to the bone, the more tattooing hurts. Yet, a majority of the men had their entire heads done (see extra)

It's a fun place to be as a photographer: you will not find subjects more willing to be photographed than at a tat convention! Neither will you find nicer people -- in spite of the outward Goth look, piercings, mohawks and other strange hair styles :)

Here's the entire collection of shots. Can't wait till next year ;)
