The Reeuwijk ponds

The Reeuwijk ponds actually consist of thirteen smaller ponds between Bodegraven and Gouda. Narrow roads separate the lakes that were originally emitted. The ponds all have a rectangular shape, in which the former allotment of peat soils from the time of 'Great Exploration' can still be recognized. The hinterland is characterized by memories of the Dutch Water Line, especially by the Fort Wierickerschans.

The water and for a large part the nature banks are jointly managed by the municipality and residents. The area is limited accessible so you still experience real peace on and around the water. Active recreation is mainly focused on the many cycling and walking opportunities.
