Still Life - Marquetry

After blipping the tapestry that my Dad had made ( Monday 8th January ) it got me thinking about other objects that he had made, such as this tray, cigarette box and lighter in Marquetry which was another of his crafty  skills. This is the art of applying pieces of wood veneer to an object to create designs and patterns. I remember that he used to buy packets of different veneers from a hobby shop in town. The background I have used is a piece of screen printed silk that I made many years ago, with a view to using to make something.  Needless to say I never have because I don't want to cut it.
I am not sure whether Nickimags888 is still running her Still Life Sunday, but I will tag it just in case, otherwise it will be another in my personal still life series.
