More destruction

From Eleanor/Burglind at New Year. Up at MrB's hut. The track (I was standing on to take this) is barely visible.

Perhaps he won't be needing it now as the shooting season takes a pause after this weekend, I think it's done so as not to disturb the animals at a time of year when their reserves are at a low. However, this winter probably hasn't taken much out of them. Our friendly "Knickohr" deer has been at the house a couple of times this week. Wish she was on MrB's patch as we would be sure she was safe. Just have to hope the state forester who shoots on our patch keeps his word.

This section of forest belongs to the parish and not the state. Wish they would clear the small plot completely and replant. Can't understand the logic of leaving them to be snapped off or blown over every time we have a puff of wind.

As a sign of how mild the winter is, neither our goldfish pond nor swimming pool are frozen. From memory, they are always frozen in January. The fish are even very visible, not too active but almost halfway to the surface. Normally they stay very deep close to the bottom and in the weeds.

Seeing the fish also shows the problem waiting for us in spring. Yet again they have been very "active" and there are a mass of young ones. Does anyone need any?
