Ohiwa.....

.....the food basket of many hands.

One of New Zealand's smallest and less well-known harbours, Ohiwa is dotted with islands amongst it's warm waters. It's a place where migratory birds fatten up ahead of their return flight back to the North Hemisphere, a place where shellfish and fish species are abundant, a place of recreation, boating, fishing and swimming. People appreciate its landscapes, natural beauty, water quality, heritage places and values, clean air and productive land.

And today a photographers paradise, calm with stunning reflections......a jewel just up the road from Ohope Beach and just over the hill from Whakatane, a place which has been a major food source for local iwi and a much treasured jewel for all.

Taken early morning before we collect mum from her sister's, they've had a wonderful time together and then the three of us will drive to Rotorua before flying to Christchurch. We've a wonderful holiday, some great memories are now here to enjoy :)

This is a backblip......
