Frescobaldi

Up almost early with frost on the windscreen and dense fog in the Arno valley. Rising up on the road to the pass near Pelago the sun was pretty nice on the Frescobaldi vineyards in their winter colours.

I got the new chainsaw underway today with not a little trepidation. What a marvellous machine it is and lethal, of course.

Halved some very large logs and put notches across the top of them to allow me to use wedges rather than an axe. It worked surprisingly well.

It was really quite warm in canvas trousers with the heavy quilt of the chainsaw trousers on top and the boots, the gloves, the helmet, visor and ear defenders.

It felt like I could have laid waste to the place but the clearing up of the felled wood is a long and arduous process.

The scaffolding is nearly finished and the builders will start Kangoing out the old cement mortar tomorrow.

Home as the light faded to stop in Sieci for supplies even though I really wanted to stop at Frescobaldi and get 5L of their 'speciale'. Portion control, being the order of the day, won out. By a whisker.
