Mousehole and beyond

Today I visited two places from my ‘must do’ list.
We are staying near Penzance and only a few miles away is Mousehole pronounced ‘Mowzel’. Ever since reading my children the lovely children’s book ‘The Mousehole Cat’ Gillian and I have wanted to visit. The book tells the story of Tom Bawcock who saved the village from famine by going out fishing in a terrible storm, with the help of his car. Based on a true story, he is still celebrated on December 23rd each year.
Then we went on to Land’s End and stood at the western extreme of England with the waves crashing on the cliffs and the wind blowing Pepper’s ears straight up in the air!
We blew all the way home and had a grand game of Monopoly to finish with. I won!
