Catching the First Rays of Sunshine

I went to the Venice Rookery just before sunrise this morning and had a blast watching all the birds wake up and take off to get their morning breakfast  

I took a lot of photos but was having an "off day" as most just looked blah at best.  Only a couple were keepers including this Great Egret but I guess that is better than walking away with nothing.  Note the green patch on the Egrets face - this coloring is only present during breeding season.
