Flying Life of XH558

I knew it was coming but I had the official letter this week about the flying life of XH558.
2013 will be her last display season but her life will continue with the Ve3 project - Vulcan Engineering, Education and Experience centre. This will ensure that XH558 will continue to inspire young engineers into the future.

The major reason for her not flying after 2013 is due to the UK CAA regulations requiring her to have a modification to the wing spars which will cost about £200,000. It is felt that this is an excessive amount to ask for by donations for probably one extra year of flying.

There's lots of information on the website and an explanation of Ve3. Below the Ve3 photo of XH558 there is a link to a downloadable pdf slideshow all about Ve3.
