Grub's Up

Daintily holding a moth grub in it's beak the Gloucester Penduline Tit just turned it's head at the right moment. I was really really chuffed to see this in shot as this is the very first time I've ever seen a picture of the actual grub; plenty of reed balancing and pulling apart of the bullrush heads but not the actual quarry.

Usually this isn't seen because of a)  the distance, b) size, as the bird itself is small and c)  the colouring, as the grub is the same colour as the seed heads.

Sunny but a rather chilly, if not downright cold day when out of the sun so 400 or so shots later I called it a day and headed home leaving the other scopes and lenses to it.
