Old friends

Today Dad and I visited his old stamping grounds south of Hereford where he rang church bells for many years. With age (and to help a good friend who is also a keen ringer but whose progressing MS makes ringing church bells increasingly difficult) he has done more handbell ringing. So today we'd arranged to see her and another chap for a spot of method ringing and a scoff of her very fine homemade baking. Extra is them all ringing. We also dropped by to see another of his old friends from the village who was a wonderful support after Mum's death, keeping an eye out on the house when Dad couldn't live there and it was being sold. I know Dad misses this community very much and the welcome we received was worth the slog home through the rush hour.
LH had the dubious pleasure of trying to fix the jammed ballcock in the big tank which collects the water for our and our neighbours' supply. Although he'd drained much of the tank he was still sloshing around in freezing water for much longer than anticipated - and the blasted thing still isn't fixed. He's worried me somewhat by greeting me back home by saying he'd had 'a bit of an episode' of dizziness, chest pain and eye symptoms. He needs to see someone but he's not keen. Men.
