Will Your Anchor Hold

It was Mrs CBL's brother’s funeral yesterday. He died last week six months after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.

The church service was very well attended and it was very evident that John, a much loved family man, was a highly regarded and well respected rector of The Gordon Schools in Huntly. His contributions to the local community were greatly valued too. Touching and heartfelt tributes were paid to him by family, friends and colleagues and he was given a glowing ‘report card’ in the Huntly Express.

His burial took place in Banff, a coastal town, 20 miles north-east of Huntly. He will be much missed by all who knew him.

This photo was taken in Banff looking across the mouth of the River Deveron to the nearby town of Macduff. It brought to mind a quotation I read last week, “Love is the light that shines in the tunnel of darkness” and much love has been needed to face up the challenges of the past few months.

The extra image is of the anchor which is on display on the garden opposite the church. I chose it as the last hymn sung at the service was, “Will you anchor hold in the storms of life”.
