Church of the Saviour on Spilled Blood

This, the first onion-domed church we saw on our Russian trip, was built in St Petersburg on the spot where Tsar Alexander ll was assassinated. In all the time we were in Russia, I never became blasé about these churches - and I learned that their architecture is all about giving the appearance of a candle flame, no matter what angle they are viewed from.
