And the Nightingale sang in Berkeley Square!

It’s a very very tired MJ, or Maj as some of you call me here! What a day! First breakfast, then across to Euston where we went to church at St Aloysius. I went to secondary school just past there and as we left Church the gate that gave onto the playground was open and we went in! Photos of what used to be our playground, much smaller but recognisable!

On to Kings cross to meet up with son 1. A very quick meeting as they were catching a train home!

Did I mention the rain? No? Well it started while we were in church and was set to stay! So it was into a Costas to plan! We had most of the day free before a booked place at 20 Fenchurch Street. It was cold and wet and while we were well dressed for it ....yuck!

The British Museum was within walking distance, bought a map and went to the top of the Great Court to the Restaurant to see what we/I wanted to see. Ro’ s not that bothered!
It was delicious! Lamb stew for me and fish & chips for Ro!

We settled for a few items to see: the Rosetta Stone, some Egyptien animal mummies, some of the Parthenon sculptures a huge statue from Easter Island .... then we did a whistle stop tour! I love the BM, and it seems to have more fantastic things than when I was a girl, but the toilets! Down a long winding staircase and the queue was from about half way! (The women’s). Only those in the museum as the others were being redone. The place was heaving!

On to a Café Nero for a very long sit down, not far from a toilet!! In Holborn as we were too early for our reservation. Finally we decided to try early and they let us in! It’s the Walky Talky building in the city. Right at the top is a huge garden with restaurant and cafe. Fabulous views over London and it’s free! But today the views were murky to say the least! And my camera made a point of focussing on the drops! ( I think I now know how to focus manually!!) it was twilight!

We left and walked back to St Paul’s tube station to start seeing the Lumiere show. Took the tube to Bond Street. Lots of shops, open! Went into Debenhams and bought two state of the art umbrellas! Mine is a see-through dome. Ro’s a large black one! It was really raining as we saw lit up seesaw’s, an Illumaphonium, and the nightingale singing in Berkeley Square!! ( I stole a kiss/peck from my man!). On to Green Park tube. Out at Westminster to see the Abbey! Wonderful lighting!! Really fabulous! Then walked on to the cathedral for two more exhibits. The Rosetta there again wonderful! Victoria Station(free toilets). And a train to Croydon. Wagamama-the thought of it had kept us going!! Hotel and now sleep I think. Nearly 29,000 steps today and 20,499 yesterday!
